Degradation of plastic....

                                                  Bacterium vs Plastic

Once upon a time we were fully dependent on nature. Our old generation used to collect their daily comforts from nature. With the rotation of time we have learnt to use the earth instead of depending on it.

Although plastic makes our life style much comfortable but for the lack of perfect use of it, earth have faced a great threat for 70 years. But when we find the solution from the scientists we have to take it that all time science is blessing for all.Without science we can't live longer.

'IDEONELLA SAKAIENSIS'
recently the scientists of Japan have discovered a species of bacterium. This bacterium able to break the structure of 'Polyethylene Terephthalate (P.T.E.). PTE is used for almost plastic making materials.Naturally plastic takes 5 to 10 year to decay but this bacterium just take 6 weeks to break it.
Earlier we have no idea about the "Bio-degradation of PTE" is possible or not.

But the possibility of Bio-degradation of  PTE makes astonished at first to the scientist of ‘Kiyoto Institute of Technology,Japan’.
The name of the amazing bacterium is ‘Ideonella Sakaiensis’.scientists of ‘kiyoto institute of Technology’ founded it from the plastic re-processing institute of ‘osaka’,Japan. This bacterium takes only plastic for it’s living.
PROCESS OF PLASTIC DEGRADATION
‘Ideonella sakaiensis’ bacterium at first renounce PETase enzyme .This enzyme makes ‘Mono Hydroxyethyl Terephthalic Acid(MHET).After degrading PET,MHET is taken by this bacterium directly. Then MHET makes ‘Terephthalic Acid’ & ethylene glycol with hydrolase process.
If we can collect this Terephthalic Acid from the plastic by using this bacterium,we can preserve a lot of petrol based provision. But because of it’s own degradation power is not enough now,it will take some time to use broadly .Just imagine it,if we can make more enough PETase and MHET hydrolase enzyme  by genetic engineering,we will be able to make a revolunary change.
So,we have to keep our questing mentality to be continued.
